About the Role

Reporting to the National Field Sales Manager, play a critical role in planning and activation within the Independents channel, both at an individual level and via the management of the state field sales team. Manage a large and diverse portfolio across multiple categories, and effectively prioritising for success.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Sales Strategy and Financial Deliverables: Assist in the development of sales strategy for key accounts and subsequent business plan execution for key trading partners. Control and manage agree deals, discounts and promotional spend with key accounts whilst achieving core range distribution targets.  
  • Customer Management: Develop and maintain strong trading relationships across all key account groups via new line presentations, business updates, key event promotional planning, range extensions, trade shows etc. Notify price adjustments liaising with key store and contacts.
  • People management: Build strong selling capabilities within the team whilst continuously coaching and developing in the field. Identify development needs of personnel and build development programs to raise performance levels.
  • Forecasting: Manage financial and demand forecasts ensuring full visibility of expected future performance of promotions, baseline, NDP and gap closing.
  • Communication: Work closely internal and external stakeholders to meet customer expectations and address priorities. Regularly maintain communication for clarity and alignment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Certifications or training in FMCG sales or negotiation are highly regarded.
  • Experience in a sales role within Independent Sales
  • Hands-on management style with experience leading a small, dispersed teams.
  • Willing and able to undertake travel within New South Wales.
  • Hold an unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including to build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a diverse team, as well as the ability to exercise independence, sound judgement and initiative by applying critical thinking and lateral problem-solving skills in overcoming obstacles within tight timeframes.
  • Advanced analytical skills for interpreting sales & category data to drive strategic decisions.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Motivated to own a process and accept accountability for performance
  • Have a keen eye for continuous improvement and the willingness to adapt as required.
